Motion Facts and Information

  1. What Can I Do for Motion Sickness: Do not watch or talk to another traveler who is having motion sickness.

  2. The standard advice for seasickness is to get up on deck where visual input agrees with vestibular input. Likewise, studies have shown that a child is far less likely to experience car sickness when in an elevated child seat that provides a good outside view.

  3. Motion sickness is nausea and dizziness that occurs when traveling in a moving vehicle such as a car, boat, or airplane.

  4. If you begin to feel sea sick, or motion sick; apply cold packs or ice to the eyes & neck

  5. Motion sickness generally clears up once you leave the car, boat, or airplane, so you'll rarely find yourself in a health care provider's office during an episode. But your provider may be able to recommend ways to prevent and treat the condition for your next trip.

  6. Symptoms of motion sickness, seasickness or altitude sickness: Feeling cold and clammy

  7. Motion sickness drugs, available over the counter or by prescription, can cause unpleasant and sometimes serious side effects. Many of these drugs may not be suitable for children or, in certain circumstances, even for adults.

  8. Symptoms of motion sickness, seasickness or altitude sickness: Feeling cold and clammy

  9. Snacks or crackers a little and often during the trip will also help to reduce motion sickness.

  10. What Can I Do for Motion Sickness: Avoid strong odors and spicy or greasy foods that do not agree with you (immediately before and during your travel).
