  1. For motion sickness or sea sickness: Do not skip eating before diving. An empty stomach can be almost as bad as one with the wrong types of food in it. Give your stomach acids something to work on other than your well-being. Give your stomach time to begin digesting you meal. Get up a little earlier if you must to eat relaxed and an hour or more before going out on the water.  Don't overeat and get bloated either.  Easy does it.

  2. One theory of motion sickness focuses on sensory conflict. Cruise ship passengers are far more likely to get seasick when below because their vestibular sense detects motion while their eyes reveal motionless surroundings.

  3. Some divers as being very effective for sea sickness report eating peppermint in conjunction with ginger. Since mint does have some of the same calmative qualities as ginger, this may be true. Perhaps it is just the belief that it works that is effective. Regardless, it is an inexpensive and pleasant addition. An added benefit is making your breath sweeter.
