Motion Facts and Information

  1. To relieve motion sickness or sea sickness, avoid alcoholic beverages at least 24 hours before travel.

  2. Symptoms of motion sickness, seasickness or altitude sickness: Feeling of Nausea

  3. For motion sickness or sea sickness: Again, if possible, avoid the cabin and other enclosed spaces. Sometimes, a breezy spot in the sun may be preferable to a shady spot in a stuffy cabin.  The open air and ability to look out over the horizon are often more important than being in a shady spot, which can be stuffy and enclosed, limiting your view of the horizon and perhaps making you more prone to motion sickness.

  4. Acupressure wrist bands put pressure on the point called P6. Many people claim it works. It may in some individuals. How it works is unknown; however the Chinese state it works by balancing the ying and yang of your body.

  5. To prevent motion sickness or sea sickness or altitude sickness: Avoid strong odors and spicy or greasy foods immediately before and during your travel. Medical research has not yet investigated the effectiveness of popular folk remedies such as soda crackers and & Seven Up® or cola syrup over ice.

  6. Motion sickness causes reduced blood flow and this in turn reduces the body temperature making the sufferer feel cold and clammy.

  7. To relieve motion sickness or sea sickness try and get lots of fresh air.

  8. To relieve motion sickness or sea sickness, avoid alcoholic beverages at least 24 hours before travel.

  9. Motion sickness is also a learned malady, which can be unlearned. Roughly 17 percent of military pilot-trainees experience motion sickness serious enough to interfere with aircraft control, but only about 1 percent actually wash out due to air sickness. The rest simply learn to deal with it.

  10. For motion sickness or sea sickness: Have some water and fruit before and between dives. It can help by re-hydrating you.
